Variants and prices
The TUV300 comes in 7 diesel variants with two of the variants having automatic transmission. The variants are the T4, the T4 Plus, the T6, the T6 Plus, the T8, the T6 Plus AMT and the T8 Plus AMT priced Rupees 6.98, 7.33, 7.63, 7.88, 8.48, 8.60 and 9.20 lakh respectively. These are cheaper than the diesel variants of the rivals the EcoSport priced Rupees 7.98 to 10.48 lakh, the Duster priced 8.30 to 13.55 lakh and the Hyundai Creta priced Rupees 9.47 to 13.60 lakh. The diesel auto variant of the Creta is costlier at Rupees 13.58 lakh.
The 7-seater SUV is rugged in construction with high off-road capabilities. The masculine front has a body coloured grille resembling the Bolero with chrome bordered slats, conventional wing shaped head lights, a bold bumper with air dam and square fog lights with chrome surrounds and a wide wind screen. Features include roof rails, spare wheel mounted tail gate, body coloured ORVMs, side steppers and tinted glasses. The TUV300 comes in colours of bold black, dynamic red, glacier white, molten orange, verve blue and majestic silver.
The cabins are comfortable with 3 rows of seats with the third row fully folding. The standard features of the cabin include an engine immobiliser, central and child lock facilities, a manual AC, tilt steering, vinyl seats, power windows and internally operated black ORVMs. T4 Plus onwards has 2 air bags, ABS,EBD, body coloured ORVMs and a 2 Din music system with LED display and Bluetooth connectivity. The top variants have fabric seats, electrical ORVMs and rear parking sensors additionally.
The TUV300 is powered by a 1493 cc, 84 bhp and 230 NM torque engine coupled to a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gear box. The mileages obtained are 18.49 kmpl.
The suspension system is perfect with double wish bone at the front and the multi-link rigid axle at the rear. The suspensions, the R15 tyres and a good ground clearance of 184 mm lead to a comfortable ride.
